The Human Being Foundation was registered as a Charitable
Organization by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501c(3)
Corporation on August 30, 2002. Its Founder is Nathan M. Shippee,
Author and Entrepreneur, whose writings on Human Destiny cover the
period from 1968 to the present. His current book, THE HUMAN BEING,
begins with Chapter One – “My Personal Journey” which may be
obtained by clicking on to the HUMAN BEING page herein.
It was at the urging of SterlingHouse
Publishers Inc. following 9/11 that The Human Being Foundation
was created to represent the Author in the publication of his
philosophical writings on Human Destiny.
In addition to philosophical essays dedicated to the logical
clarification of thought, a trilogy of books:
BECOMING, THE HUMAN BEING, and

NATHAN
M. SHIPPEE, the founder and president of The Human Being Foundation,
has had an entrepreneurial career, having formed and operated
companies in natural resources, telecommunications, packaging and
international commerce. Mr. Shippee is also an inventor,
archeologist and author of philosophical essays.
He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1941 with a
degree in Business Science and a Commission of Second Lieutenant,
Infantry. After three years of overseas combat in Africa, Italy and
France, he returned to the US as a Major, United States Army, with
decorations from both the American and French Governments for
distinguished service in combat operations.
Following World War II, Nathan Shippee joined Chase National Bank
and participated in the opening of their branch bank in Shanghai,
China in 1946 until the collapse of the Nationalist government in
1948. In 1963, as a passenger on a Mohawk Airlines flight from
Rochester, New York, he survived a multi-fatality crash during which
he experienced a vivid and especially graphic out-of-body sensation.
The one-year recovery period after the crash served to turn his
attention to life-forming issues, and he began a series of annual
philosophical essays which later became his first book on Human
Destiny, titled BECOMING, Coming into Being. The book was published
in 1979.
Nathan Shippee is married. He is the father of four children and
five grandchildren. He was born on May 1st, 1919 and lives in Old
Lyme, Connecticut.
