A NEW MODEL OF LIFE

It was clear to me following my out-of-body experience that there was more to life than our physical presence in it. It was clear to me that the living presence of our soul should have domain over our body. It was also clear to me that soul is meant to be the essence of our total self. The challenge of this awareness was how to bring soul into a working relationship within me.

Stop for a moment to reflect upon this. Reflect upon the concept that you have a living soul, which cannot die. Reflect upon the concept that death is not part of your future. Your future transcends death. Hard to grasp? For too long we have accepted death as the end of life. Who can assure us otherwise?

ASSURANCE lies within. The new model of life is the identification with your “live-in” soul. Are you more than a body? If you accept that you are MORE than a body, accept that the MORE is your living soul, then it will come clear to you. You will be the source of your own assurance. Your identification with your living-soul is the assurance that your mind seeks.

MORE than a body, a soul-with-a-body, a new thing! We are on the earth, but not of it. As a soul, we are a visitor here. As a soul-with-a-body, we have a mission here within the framework of evolution. For the first time, evolution need not be primarily physical in nature; it may also be a transformation of consciousness. We have become a conscious participant in the unfolding and direction of the evolutionary process itself. From now on, if we are to have a future, we must create the future ourselves, for we become as we think. Becoming is our destiny and our thoughts are its engine. We have the power. Do we have the wisdom?

The goal is not to transcend the world but to transform the world…to become an agent of the development itself. The notion that evolution is a biological event deeply affects our understanding of what it means to be human. It is the unexamined consequences of that notion that will shape our future in the long term and will also touch our souls. As Teilhard said: “This is why the cosmic enterprise now hangs on our decision. We are evolution.”
