“IT IS SO “…
…But it was not always so.
Sometime about 500 BC an evolutionary jump occurred...when the
two-sided brain became bridged. At that time mankind became “manned”
and the full powers of reasoning took place as we began to think.
Two Homeric epic poems (c 800 BC)– The Iliad and The Odyssey –
marked the transition. Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha 563-483 BC) later
wrote “We are shaped by our thoughts. We become what we think.”
Now, 2500 years later, this concept lives on. However, there has
been a shift of thought towards a new ideology of life. We are the
object of our own creative thoughts which has raised thought to the
personal level as described in the following text, a chapter from
BEING, the third book in the Human Destiny Trilogy that is scheduled
for publication in 2006.
“IT IS SO”
(WE BECOME AS WE THINK)
“It is so! (If You Think So!)” Luigi Pirandello (1869 – 1936), one
of the most powerful dramatists of the 1900's pioneered the concept
of “we become as we think” in his play “It Is So – (If You Think
So!)” His portrayal of the struggle for life in its inner essence is
as fresh as today’s themes that life is more than its private
depths. The concept lives on, and it has taken fresh meaning, taken
new meaning with international focus on individual lives, on
people's purpose in life. The shift of thought towards a new
ideology about human life has raised the level of thinking about
life from the “more than its private depths” to the “more of the
force within.”
From time immemorial, we have been mystified about our physical
presence in life on earth. Through science, we incrementally gained
the knowledge about physical life, but we are left without an
understanding of the purpose of life, of the why of life, of how to
engage that inner force which constantly seeks our attention. Our
struggle for life in its inner essence is the personal challenge
that confronts us now. We are creative. Through the power of thought
we create new forms of materials, even new forms of life. Now we
face the real test on the personal level – to be the object of our
own creative thoughts, to become as we think!
In the course of becoming the object of my own thoughts, I tried to
winnow-out much of the extraneous thoughts which occupy my mind, and
form a solid base from which I could build an understanding of the
purpose of my life that would capture the energy of my life within,
and reflect its radiance throughout – even to others.
At first it was a visionary goal that existed in my mind, and then
it became a conscious effort to pick and choose, and finally select
a series of thoughts upon which I could do what I had set out to do.
The process was first to simplify, simplify, and simplify my
thoughts until they fell into a relationship, which complemented
each other. There was the relationship with “thinking” itself, and
with “feeling”, and then with “being”, and finally with “knowing”,
and I thought of these four as becoming my compass, the North, East,
South, and West of my life within.
In the course of materializing this relationship, I “enlisted” my
personal stationery, and imprinted along its bottom in capital
letters the new compass points: --
THINK ABUNDANCE – FEEL JOY – BE ENTHUSIASTIC –
KNOW PEACE WITHIN
To Think, To Feel, To Be, and To Know became my everyday goals, to
be kept alive within me as personal objectives. This then became the
base for my living, the keystone of my life within, and my guide in
expressing myself to others.
THINK ABUNDANCE When we think abundance, we usually visualize a physical element, an
orchard at harvest time, a bushel of clams, a field of flowers. We
can also think of things in profusion, of overflowing, of being
prolific. We think in terms of other things being abundant, not of
our self within.
What a difference it makes when your thinking turns within, and you
become abundant, overflowing, powerful, distinguished, a person of
consequence. It is so, if you think so! Once it is so it takes on a
life of its own, and its light shines through you, and is visible to
others. People like to do things with people they like, and people
like people who are abundant.
Becoming abundant within is not the same as abundance without. It is
not seasonal, it is not at harvest time, it is always. Abundance is
real life: -- the who, what, and why you are in full color. Once you
find it you will never let it go. THINK ABUNDANCE!
FEEL JOY Who wouldn't like to be as happy as a lark? Who wouldn't like to
feel joy, gladness, delight, cheerful, happy, enlivened, merry,
exalted and to have these feelings as a continuous flow of energy
from within, radiating throughout as a presence of your true sense
from within.
These are feelings which are not imposed upon others, but which
reach out to share with others who receive a sense of them through
you. This mutual sense of sharing is the new ideology of life, which
has raised the level of thinking about life to the sensorium level
of life, a new stage of life we are now entering.
To feel, to experience, to touch, to seem, to sense, to examine, to
suppose, to test, to feel like, to foreknow, to be intuitive, are
all feelings expressive of joy. Once these feelings are ingrained,
they are all a part, none apart. You will have empowered yourself
with a radiance that attracts radiance, and forms a bond with others
that will compliment your own self, and fulfill a purpose in your
life on earth. FEEL JOY!
BE ENTHUSIASTIC Enthusiasm is a Greek word – En Theos – meaning God within. If you
build yourself on a foundation of abundance, of joy, and of God
within, you will build a fortress that will withstand all that life
can bring you, a citadel, a tower of strength, a stronghold, a
panoply of protective covering from which you will form bonds with
others that will enrich them as well.
Enthusiasm is “such stuff as dreams are made of.” Enthusiasm is
creative thought, is visionary, idealistic, inventive, romantic,
inspired, prolific, and is the seat of the mind's eye. To become all
seeing within is a priceless possession of your own Being, as well
as an assessment of what is going on around you. To have at your
command your mind's eye is not only to see around, but also to see
ahead, to have a vision of events that are coming to you before they
come, and to prepare to deal with them. You are dealing from
strength when you are enthusiastic. BE ENTHUSIASTIC!
KNOW PEACE WITHIN
To know peace within is to have an understanding of the importance
of knowing oneself. To know peace within is not to be a pacifist, or
a non-combatant in life. Rather, it is the bringing together of all
the forces that find their way to you, and to reconcile, reunite,
restore harmony, and come to an understanding with them. Peace of
mind brings a calmness that passes all understanding, and makes
whole within you the course that you will undertake.
As enthusiasm is “God within,” so peace within is God-like. To know
peace within is to be in accord with feelings, with bonds of
harmony, with understanding one another, with empathy for the ideas
or feelings of one another. Knowing peace within is the cement, the
substance that makes objects adhere to each other and unites them
firmly together. To know peace within as a building block is to
unite Abundance with Joy and Enthusiasm firmly together within your
interior Self until they become You in reality, the individual who
others get to know, and are attracted to, as radiance attracts
radiance and builds upon itself.
Through science, we have gained knowledge about physical life, but
it is through the power of thought that we gain knowledge about our
Self..... become the object of our own creative thoughts, become as
we think.
It Is So… If You Think So!...
We Become As We Think!
